Dr Cheong received his PhD in Economics from the University of Western Australia (UWA), and he holds a Master of Applied Finance from the University of Western Sydney (UWS). He also has a Master’s degree in International Relations from Griffith University (Griff), and a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).
He has experience in teaching courses on economics and finance such as: Business Econometrics; Macroeconomics, Money and Finance; Macroeconomics: Policy and Application; Quantitative Methods for Business and Economics; Financial Institution Management; and Credit Risk Management.
He is experienced in the study of economic problems using various econometric software and statistical tools. Moreover, he has an extensive knowledge in applied economic modelling and analysis. He also worked as a consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Australia in evaluating the impacts of various economic shocks and policy changes by conducting Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) economic analysis. He has offered training on economic modelling to the staff at the Australian Federal Treasury and PhD students at the Australian National University (ANU) and UWA.
