The Closing Ceremony for the first Banking Certificate Programme, hosted by Executive Development Centre with the support from School of Business and Student Affairs Office, was held at Alice Lam Lecture Theatre on 28 April 2016. The programme was started in January 2016 for about 3 months, aimed at providing invaluable opportunities for students to gain insights from financial experts on their work experience and professional knowledge. 50 students were selected, out of over 130 applications from our 5 different schools, who obtained a certificate after satisfactory completion of the 7 modules, plus an assignment.
President Simon S M Ho expressed his sincere thanks to the guest speakers and facilitators for their efforts in nurturing the students. He encouraged the students to give back and contribute their knowledge to the society in the future, with their successful achievement made.
Gavin Chan, a BBA student, shared the insights they gained from the course during the ceremony. He encouraged everyone to read more, better equip themselves to get prepared for grasping opportunities in a quicker and easier manner. His motto is “The future is yours. Don’t limit yourself.”
In addition to the 50 students who were awarded the banking certificates in the ceremony, a group of four students (Chan Wing Hei, Andrew Law, Li Cheuk Wing and Phyllis Ng) was awarded as Champion team for their project on “Digital Banking: Today and Tomorrow”. Another four students (Ronald Lee, Jack Ng, Jason Ng and Ray Chen) were appreciated for their active and initiative participation in the programme. One of them had participated in all the finance related conferences and career talks organised by EDC in November last year in order to better understand and equip himself for the banking industry, who should be a role model for other fellow students.
President Simon S M Ho delivered welcome remarks in the Closing Ceremony.
Gavin Chan, student representative of the programme, shared his views and insights gained from the Banking Certificate Programme.
